TRIBES OF THE SOUTHWEST USA
# TRIP 3: SACRED MOUNTAINS OF THE NAVAJO
June and August (9 nights)
Journey circumnavigating the Navajo Sacred Mountains
[New Mexico, Arizona & Colorado]

Journey into the heart of the Sacred Mountains, an area bounded by four natural landmarks representing the earth-given limits of the Dineh - or Navajo - people. Venture through lands civilised by the Ancient Pueblo People ten centuries before Europeans arrived. Be inspired by the Chaco Canyon, Monument Valley and Grand Canyon. Feel the connections between the ground beneath and the sky above; the environment, its inhabitants and their culture.

This nine day trip will take you through remarkable terrain imbued with historical, cultural, natural and spiritual significance, with hikes, visits to sacred sites, camping under the stars, storytelling, expert Navajo guides and much more, all in beautiful surroundings.

An excellent way to see at first hand the breathtaking land that was and continues to be home to the Native American peoples of the southwest United States, and a wonderful opportunity to embark upon a personal voyage, seeing the Sacred Mountains region refracted through the collective experience and wisdom of its people.
